Jeremy's Song

[Stanza 1]
Bright hope he showed early on.
Stayed out in front, would sing his song.
No gloom clouded his cheerful glow,
He’d rock. He’d roll, this glowing soul.

[Stanza 2]
His grin made new friends, new wins.
His grin warmed each room that’s dim;
He’d lifted us, gave an emotional embrace,
Infectious joy was on his face.

[Stanza 3]
In high school space, his music flowed,
His band teacher said, “I know,
Jeremy’s on my performance roll.
Jeremy’s drums even made rocks roll.”

[CHORUS]
He fights the fight through night or day,
He helps the hurt in hopeful ways;
A steady heart, a faithful mind,
Lifts Navy men to heal and bind.

[Stanza 4]
Key boards, sax, and drums, he’d play;
This son made music spin
He stirred our souls within.
Jeremy’s style made music win.

[Stanza 5]
In college, chemistry taught Jeremy bright,
B.S. and M.S. degrees seemed right.
His precise mind knew what to do.
How to study? Jeremy knew.

[Stanza 6]
Gave two years, a mission true
In Puerto Rico, learned Spanish too.
He did his job and now he knew
A love for people that always grew.

[CHORUS]
He fights the fight through night or day,
He helps the hurt in hopeful ways;
A steady heart, a faithful mind,
Lifts Navy men to heal and bind.

[Stanza 7]
In medical school he learned a lot,
St. Louis University: his study spot.
A doctorate earned through fire and strain,
But for Jeremy, his pain was gain.

[Stanza 8]
The Navy called—he answered strong,
A Commander’s rank. He did belong;
On the aircraft carrier from dawn to dusk,
His skills he polished. ---- No rust.

[Stanza 9]
In Afghanistan’s harsh dust and sky,
He served where dangers drifted high;
Active duty for 15 years,
Then Navy Reserve for six years.

[CHORUS]

He fights the fight through night or day,
He helps the hurt in hopeful ways;
A steady heart, a faithful mind,
Lifts Navy men to heal and bind.

[Stanza 10]
Published medical essays he’s done.
Such disciplined writing is not much fun.
From journals now his knowledge grows,
Doctors must always keep on their toes.

[Stanza 11]
At Balboa Hospital in San Diego,
He treats with kindness each patient’s ego;
An anesthesiologist, calm and wise,
He manages pain. Pain’s on the rise.

CHORUS
He fights the fight through night or day,
He helps the hurt in hopeful ways;
A steady heart, a faithful mind,
Lifts Navy men to heal and bind.
