Life Events Can Really Hurt

[Verse 1]

From heaven to her, a surprising start,

An instant takeover of my heart.

Each cell a roadmap of what’s to be:

Fingernail, eyelash, liver,  and knee.

[Verse 2]

A tiny seed too small for eyes,

Miraculously magnified.

Poppy seed, lentil, cherry, lemon,

Daily growing to watermelon.

[Chorus]

The balm and solace to my soul

Is knowing that he'll still grow.

Because of God who gives and takes,

I look to Jesus to heal life's breaks.

[Verse 3]

Dreams and wonder, let's celebrate.

Hugs and giggles, could hardly wait.

One minute strong, the heart with beat,

Then sudden silence, loud as grief.

[Verse 4]

Hair, like chestnuts catching the sun,

Rosebud fingers, ten of them.

A little whiff of mortal power,

Gut wrenching way to spend an hour.

[Chorus]

The balm and solace to my soul

Is knowing that he'll still grow.

Because of God who gives and takes,

I look to Jesus to heal life's breaks.

How does a mother comfort my girl,

who lost her only son?

Her nine-month hopes burned to dust

When death gave a surprising thrust.

Are my beliefs only myths and fables?

Illusive treasures on a pirate’s table?

Grief's so costly, but trust is free.

I want the fruits of a living tree.

[Chorus]

The balm and solace to my soul

Is knowing that he'll still grow.

Because of God who gives and takes,

I look to Jesus to heal life's breaks.

[Outro]

Her son will rise up from the dead,

And we will know him, as Jesus said.
