Powerful Words
Words can hurt and words can heal.
Words tell stories where lies seem real.
Words teach men that murder’s right.
Teach men to flex and fight.
Like a blender making a smoothy
Words can rip us and alter completely
Our once chunky, nourished life
Where one feels safe from political strife.
Where some words can press us forward
Press toward an abundant life
Where strife and fighting are put away.
Once on board, commit to ride, to stay.
Christ’s words teach surrender.
Teach a miracle where loss is gain.
Christ’s word-train chugs around us.
It chugs toward that higher place.
Jesus said to Peter:
"If any man will come after me,
let him deny himself,
and take up his cross,
and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life
shall lose it:
and whosoever will lose his life
for my sake shall find it."
