Buster and Wendy

It started at the senior prom,
Prescott High School dance was on,
Wendy danced. Swayed right in time.
Buster danced. Spun on a dime.

Blonde hair flowed past her waist,
Smart and fun, dressed with taste.
Then in the car on Make-out Hill
Kissing came. It was a thrill.

[Chorus]

Wendy laid down the rules.
Said, “Hey! my man, forget your plan.
Keep your hands on your own land.
I know that's hard, but that's our plan.

We fogged-up car windows a plenty,
But her standards were never empty
When our furnace got really hot,
We'd stop ‘n talk.   Then drive 'round town a lot.

Dated all that year. Kept the red line near.
Didn’t cross once. She sparked my fear.
She said: “Easy there, Romeo.
This ain't no rodeo.”

I loved her kisses, not a few.
Yes, she had Fire. This I knew.
Had burning sparks but standards high,
Oh, what a kisser. Made me fly.

And she would say,
"Goodnight. Not tonight.
— some day, it’s all right!”

Then one day, Wendy said,
“Let’s go now. It’s Vegas time.
Find a chapel now. Everything’s fine,
You must know what’s on my mind.
Let’s marry now and feel the glow.

It turned out well,
Love grew even stronger,
All that fire, that growing flame,
Was worth the fight: our no-guilt gain.

We tied the knot and made it legal.
Parents gasped, they knew our riddle.
Grateful smiles, they knew the truth,
Before them stood two strong youth.

Five kids later, here we stand,
Good lives we built, hand in hand,
Still rockin’, still laughin’, still being true—
“Thanks forever, Buster, for your trust.

Forever, Buster. You beat your lust.”
Forever, Buster, I love you.
Forever, Wendy, I love you.
