Swamp Witch
Well, I'll never know why Marie Laveau
In her silver boat would row
Across Pontchartrain Lake on to New Orleans
Where we met at the candy store.
Like a cat with a rat Marie would glow
And grab me to dance and sing.
And, hot food, oh my, stacked high
The laughing witch would bring.

Oh the shrimp and the catfish caught in the lake
In the brackish flow below
Pleased the witch, the happy witch,
That sassy Laveau.
short solo

Oh Marie Laveau I see you know
Where the banjo beat is best.
Now we danced and danced 'til early morn'
Let me go and rest.
Oh the shrimp and the catfish caught in the lake
In the brackish flow below
Pleased the witch, the happy witch,
That sassy Laveau.
