Come Home

With fading sun, with lazy ways,
I yearned for sure for brighter days.
On sandy ground, foundation weak,
It seemed my life was way too bleak.

One happy day, I heard a talk
On several ways to build on rock.
A scripture pleased my heart and mind.
It taught me how to spend my time.

That day thoughts touched my soul.
Perhaps I need to change my goal.
Perhaps the Savior's words will help.
Perhaps I need to lose myself.

The King I found. I saw His cross;
I changed by will; I changed by lose;
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John
Taught me to sing the gospel song.

I gained; I gained; I gained again.
Again, I came to praise His name.
It worked for me, my child so dear.
I'm moving home with you so near.

I sing for you, my child dear,
The path is straight. Come persevere.
Remember now, my child alone,
We need to build on steel and stone.

My path's been hard with swerves and dips,
Living water can sweeten lips.
Come walk with me my child so dear.
Come home again; forget your fear.

The Man showed me a better way.
He gave me sight, but it's a fight.
I blunder still, yet it's my will
To live each day the proper way.

With thunder-light he softly speaks.
Still razor sharp, His ways are meek.
For you I sing, my child so dear,
Come home again and stand so near.

Remember now, my child so dear,
Come home again and stand so near.
The path is real. The promise great.
My child so dear.
